Spending time in a real gas chromatograph laboratory is one of the best learning experiences I have ever had. The entire nation is moving away from the archaic breath test to measure an individual's blood alcohol and Massachusetts will eventually start utilizing with more frequency gas chromatographs due to their accuracy and precision. During this week of training, I am not only spending hands on time working with the gas chromatograph, but I am learning from the individual who actually invented the machine. Doctor Harold McNair is one of the individuals who has been with me the entire week. Understanding the science and underpinning of how this machine measures an individual's blood is crucial to better representation in the courtroom.
